Synopsis

Former intelligence and Special Forces officer NICK HARDING is a man of few words.  Fit and agile, his cautious, keen mind and unique skills allow him to adapt quickly to any situation.  He quit the forces after taking part in a disastrous mission that made him question his role in life and his effect on the world.  To redeem himself, Nick offers his specialized skills to help the poor and disenfranchised.

As he flies into balmy, exotic Rio de Janeiro, Brazil,  he is picked up by his steady, reliable right-hand man SAMUEL ARMSTRONG who has been busy laying the groundwork for the operation at hand; the theft of a rare collection of coins from Brazil's most powerful industrialist JOAQUIM MEDEIROS.

Along for the ride is MARTIN BRINELL, an anxious, high-strung computer security expert and last minute replacement for their regular systems guru suddenly incapacitated by malaria.

During a noisy, jam-packed carnival inspired fundraiser at Medeiros' sprawling estate, the trio expertly carries out the heist.  While the men proceed with the removal of the coins, alert party guest RENATO DA SILVA, an astute and corrupt but undeniably charismatic police officer, suspects the ongoing activity and sees a unique and potentially enriching opportunity.

Allowing the thieves to flee the scene of the crime, DA SILVA and his young partner EMILIO track NICK and his accomplices to a private jet charter near the airport.  But inside, NICK encounters another setback; the private jet meant to fly them home is out of service.  To make matters worse, a state wide transit strike prevents the team from leaving Rio.

As news of the theft spreads, police scramble to set up roadblocks throughout the city.  Hemmed in, NICK and his team have no other choice than to split up, lay low and find another way out.

While the pair of greedy cops closes in on his men, NICK enlists the help of LUISA MARDON, a beautiful, feisty and deeply committed activist fighting her own war against MEDEIROS.  It was this war which originally drove her to recruit NICK to commit the heist.

As DA SILVA zeroes in on MARTIN and promises to spare his life for the coins, SAMUEL contacts MEDEIROS and offers the coins in exchange for the $2M reward.

Desperate and on the run, MARTIN attempts to flee with what he believes contains the coins.  Cornered and frightened, he is killed for nothing more than a collection of cheap plaster statues.

Not wanting to lose any more men, NICK agrees to meet DA SILVA and must use all his cunning to fulfill his promise to LUISA, get to the coins before SAMUEL hands them over to MEDEIROS and turn the table on the determined cop who has his own family vendetta against the powerful businessman.
